🔼 A Waco Welcome. Known around college football as one of the top defensive coaches in the country for the past decade-plus, Paul Gonzales now has a new home and that home is McLane Stadium.

This week, Baylor head coach Dave Aranda announced the addition of Gonzales to his staff, naming him the Defensive Passing Game Coordinator/ Cornerbacks coach for the Bears.

Gonzales comes to Baylor after establishing himself as one of the top secondary assistant coaches in college football over 13 years at TCU, coming up under former Horned Frogs head coach Gary Patterson before continuing on the staff under current TCU head coach Sonny Dykes.

🔼 Poll Position. There’s a few extra digits next to a few Baylor program’s this week.

For the fourth different time this year, the Baylor men’s hoops squad finds itself in the top-25, earning a spot at 2️⃣5️⃣ in this week’s AP Poll.

On the diamond, the Baylor softball program will open up its 2025 season next month at #16 in the Softball America Preseason Poll, unveiled on Monday.

🔼 She’sss Bacckkk. It may be a new year, but the results are still the same - Alexis Brown is a beast.

The reigning Big 12 Female Athlete of the Year for track & field opened her indoor season with a bang, winning the long jump competition with an impressive mark of 21-10.25.

The jump by Brown broke the indoor long jump Baylor program, meet and facility record. Brown currently ranks No. 1 in the NCAA with a 7.5 inch lead and is only 1.25 inches away from entering the all-time NCAA indoor top-25.

Overall, the Bears left the McFerrin-12 Degree Invitational in College Station with five gold medals, three of those being in field events.

🔼 Coming Soon… The Baylor women's basketball team will play in the inaugural Coretta Scott King Classic at the Prudential Center against the UCLA Bruins on January 20.

The Coretta Scott King Classic was formed to honor the legacy of Mrs. King and celebrate female empowerment in sports. Check out what Baylor star Bella Fontleroy has to say about the importance of playing in this inaugural event.

🎥 COURT TALK WITH COACH WOODSON
