On today's episode we're previewing Baylor football's upcoming game
as they travel to Ames to take on #16 ranked Iowa State.
📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Sunday Bears. Ten different Bears have seen game action through the first four weeks of the NFL season.
Leading the way is Jalen Pitre, who has racked up 25 tackles for the 3-1 Houston Texans. Buffalo Bills captain Terrel Bernard, who was injured in week two, is close to returning for the 3-1 Bills.
Also seeing action this season so far is Jamycal Hasty (Patriots), Tyquan Thornton (Patriots), Jon Weeks (Texans), Blake Lynch (Chargers), James Lynch (Titans), Xavier Newman-Johnson (Jets), Andrew Billings (Bears), and Ross Matiscik (Jaguars).
🔼 Rising Up. When you kick off action in the Big 12 with back-to-back wins, including a win over a top-15 opponent, you’re making moves.
That’s what the Baylor volleyball team did this week, climbing five spots in the AVCA national poll to #14. It is the 58th time in program history that the Bears have been ranked in the top-15 nationally.
🔼 Tickets Punched. Next month, the Hurd Tennis Center will play host to the NCAA Individual Championships.
This past week in Tulsa, two Baylor doubles duos punched their tickets for that event at the ITA All-American Championships.
Marko Miladinovic and Oskar Brostrom Poulsen, who earned main draw bids this past summer at the ITA National Summer Championships, put the Bears on the map as they finished as finalists in the doubles draws. Overall, the two went 4-1 and earned four ranked wins including a win over Clemson's No. 5 Smith/Vukadin 7-6(2), 6(7)-7, 10-6.
Doubles pair of Devin Badenhorst and Zsombor Velcz also found success over the week. Badenhorst and Velcz began in the qualifying draw and went 4-2 on the week together. The No. 26 preseason ranked pair grabbed four ranked wins before falling in the semifinals. Baylor was the only school that had two doubles pairs advance past the quarterfinals, resulting in both duos of Badenhorst/Velcz and Miladinovic/Brostrom Poulsen earning NCAA Individual Championship bids.
🔼 Building Champions. Each month, the Student-Athlete Center for Excellence selects four champions of the month.
This award recognizes student-athletes who achieve their personal bests in the areas of academic achievement, athletic success, character formation and spiritual growth.
Each of these student-athletes was nominated by a SACE team member based upon their embodiment of each of the four pillars.
Summer Sergeant (women's track & field), Annie Vorhies (equestrian), Gavin Yates (football) and Jayden Nunn (men's basketball) have been selected as the Student-Athlete Center for Excellence (SACE) September Champions of the Month.
🎥 BAYLOR+: THE SIC 'EM POD
On this week's episode we're getting to know Baylor men's basketball's

A partnership unlike any other.
