🎙 THE GOLDEN VOICE
For more than three decades, John Morris has brought the Baylor family right inside the action for the Bears football and basketball programs. He’s been alongside them as they’ve won big games, conference championships and even national championships.
This time, the Bears will be alongside Morris celebrating as “The Voice of the Baylor Bears” was named the recipient of the 2024 NFF Chris Schenkel Award by the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame.
Affectionately known as “J-Mo,” has been the signature voice of Baylor Athletics for 30 seasons, broadcasting 11 different sports during his 38 years at the school.
He will officially be honored Dec. 10 during the 66th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino.

🔼 And Another One. One day after being named the Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week, redshirt freshman Bryson Washington added another line to his 2024 resume.
Coming off a career-best performance in Baylor’s home win over TCU, Washington was named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Player of the Week.
He rushed for a career-high 196 yards on 26 carries and scored four touchdowns in the Bears' 37-34 victory over TCU on Saturday. His four rushing scores were the most by a Bear in a single game since 2011, when Terrance Ganaway scored five times vs. Washington in the Alamo Bowl. Washington's 196 yards on the ground were also the most by a Bear since Shock Linwood rushed for 237 at Iowa State in 2016.
A breakout star in the backfield, Washington is the first Big 12 player to score four or more rushing touchdowns in a game this season, and just the 10th FBS player to do so in 2024.
🔼 Make That Elite McGhee, Please. One thing is for certain, Elise McGhee isn’t leaving anything in her tank when it comes to her volleyball career.
The San Antonio, Texas native was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after unleashing 37 kills in BU’s wins over Iowa State and Colorado to extend the win streak to five. Against the Buffs, her 24 kills were the fourth-highest total in a three-game match in school history.
It is McGhee's third-career weekly honor and her second Offensive Player of the Week nod from the Big 12.
McGhee and the 17th-ranked Bears are on the road tonight in another critical conference showdown, this time in Lubbock against Texas Tech.
🔼 Welcome To The Fam. Come December, the Baylor women’s hoops program will get a bit of an early Christmas gift.
On Tuesday, head coach Nicki Collen announced the signing of Florida transfer Aliyah Matharu, who will join the roster in time for conference play next month.
She joins the Green & Gold after stops at Mississippi State, Texas and Florida and has one season of eligibility remaining.
In her single season on the court in Florida, Matharu played in 30 of the Gators' 32 contests with 23 starts. She led the team in scoring with 570 points on a 19 points per game average. She also led Florida with 73 assists and 81 steals.
Ending the 2023-24 season, Matharu ranked second in scoring in the SEC.
