📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Ladies Night. Not that anyone’s been counting or anything, but it’s been 221 days, and nearly 13 hours since we last saw the Baylor women’s hoops squad play an official game.

That changes TONIGHT as the Bears take the floor at Foster Pavilion to open up their 2024-25 campaign with a visit from Incarnate Word.

BU opens the season ranked 12th in the nation by the Associated Press. The Bears' ranking in the AP poll is the 20th consecutive appearance in the preseason release. Among Big 12 schools, Baylor lands second in four league foes in the top 25.

🔼 Code Red. Make that six straight.

Like a West Texas wind, the 17th-ranked Baylor volleyball squad blew through Lubbock on Wednesday night, rolling to a sweep of the Red Raiders, 3-0 for a sixth straight victory and improving to 16-6 on the year.

Leading for the Bears were Elise McGhee with 15 kills, Lauren Briseño with 14 digs, Victoria Davis with nine blocks, and Jackie Barrett Frazier with 31 assists and two aces.

🔼 Making the List. What a season it’s been for Josh Cameron.

The Cedar Park, Texas native leads the Bears with 29 receptions, 424 receiving yards and seven TDs, the most by a Bear in a single season since 2021.

His performance has not gone unnoticed as this week, the redshirt junior was named a nominee for the 2024 Burlsworth Trophy.

The Burlsworth Trophy is given to the most outstanding college football player who began his career as a walk-on and has shown outstanding performance on the field. Each nominee must have begun his first season of participation with an FBS football program without financial aid of any kind from his university's athletic department.

After joining the Baylor football program as a preferred walk-on in 2021, Cameron has grown from scout-team standout to team captain and breakout star in 2024. He received a scholarship after his first full year with the team, worked his way up the depth chart at wide receiver and has since become one of the best punt returners in the country.

🎙 THE GOLDEN VOICE

For more than three decades, John Morris has brought the Baylor family right inside the action for the Bears football and basketball programs. He’s been alongside them as they’ve won big games, conference championships and even national championships.

This time, the Bears will be alongside Morris celebrating as “The Voice of the Baylor Bears” was named the recipient of the 2024 NFF Chris Schenkel Award by the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame.

Affectionately known as “J-Mo,” has been the signature voice of Baylor Athletics for 30 seasons, broadcasting 11 different sports during his 38 years at the school.

He will officially be honored Dec. 10 during the 66th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino.
