🔼 Sunday Night Showdown. This is what all those hours spent in the gym during the summer is all about.. the chance at a title.

The 17th-ranked Baylor women’s hoops team has battled injuries and adversity from literally the first week of practice, but the Bears find themselves as one of the hottest teams in the country entering Sunday’s showdown with #10 TCU.

On the line? The Big 12 Regular Season Championship.

The winner will be crowned the overall champion and earn the top seed in the upcoming Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City.

Tip time is set for 5:30 pm at Foster. We NEED you there!

🔼 Forever A Legend. Ever since he arrived on campus in 1990, JJ Joe captured the heart of many in the Baylor Fam.

Those hearts are heavy this week as the Bear legend passed away this week at the age of 54.

At the time of his induction into the Baylor Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006, he ranked #1 all-time in program history in total offensive plays (1,073), total-offense yards (6,815), touchdowns responsible for (43), passing yards (5,995), yards per pass attempt (9.015), yards per pass completion (17.277) and pass efficiency (134.87 rating).

As good as those numbers are, they pale in comparison to Joe's best statistic: he is Baylor's only three-time Academic All-American, receiving second-team honors in 1991, 1992 and 1993. Each of those years, he was Academic All-Southwest Conference as well.

For the past 21 seasons, Joe was in the booth calling the game as the radio analyst for Baylor Radio Network.

🔼 Sweepin’ On Through. When you have the tradition of excellence that the Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling has established, accomplishing something for only the fifth time is pretty special.

That occurred this week as the Bears swept all three of the NCATA weekly awards for just the fifth time in program history.

Payton Washington earned Athlete of the Week, Jordan Gruendler was named Specialist and Leavy McDonald was named Freshman.

This is McDonald's second career weekly honor from the NCATA after being named for the same award on February 19. Gruendler and Washington have both been named Honorable Mention previously this season for both the Athlete and Specialist awards.

🔼 Seeing Silver. Playing in the California sunshine treated the Baylor women’s golf team quite well this week.

In the final round of the Bruin-Wave Invitational on Tuesday, the Bears carded their best round of the event, a 6-over 294, to grab a second place overall finish.

BU's Sera Hasegawa paced the Bears in the final round, tying for fourth overall with an even-par 72. Junior Silje Ohma was not far behind, tying for sixth after a 1-over 73 on the day.

Baylor's 28-over 892 was 22 shots behind team champion and host 25th-ranked UCLA.
