What’s happening around Baylor Athletics?

There’s no place better to go than straight to the head man himself, Mack Rhoades
and that’s exactly what Colt Barber of Sic ‘Em 365 did in the latest
installment of The State of Baylor Athletics on Baylor+.

🔼 Grand Opening. One down, many more to come.

The 19th-ranked Baylor softball squad opened the 2025 in grand fashion, rolling past Abilene Christian in run-rule fashion, 10-2, on Thursday afternoon in College Station.

BU scored in every inning, racking up nine hits and blew the game open with a five-run third inning en route to the victory.

🔼 Golden Hours. Since December 1, the Baylor women’s basketball team has lost just three total games.

Winners of eight of its past 10, BU returns to Foster Pavilion on Saturday night to host their annual “Go Gold” game, in which fans are encouraged to throw on your gold and BE LOUD!

Baylor is looking to keep pace near the top of the Big 12 standings as they sit just a game back of first place entering this weekend’s showdown with the Cougars of BYU.

Tip time at Foster is set for 7 pm.

🔼 An Inverted Perspective. In the sport of Acrobatics & Tumbling, athletes are given very different perspectives throughout their routines.

For senior Jordan Gruendler, it’s a perspective that has truly changed her life.

The San Antonio native, who is majoring in psychology has five individual national championships and is looking to add to her trophy case as the top-ranked Bears open their season this weekend.

🔼 Turning Heads. Double-double machine meet double-double machine.

Two of the biggest stat-stuffers on the Baylor hoops squads were honored this week as Norchad Omier of the men’s team and Darianna Littlepage-Buggs of the women’s team both were named to Mid-Season Award Top-10 Lists.

🏈 SAVE THE DATE

Last year, the Baylor football team raised the bar, finishing the regular season
as one of the nation’s hottest teams and making yet another trip to a bowl game, earning a spot at the Kinder’s Texas Bowl.

BU will play seven games at McLane Stadium and have two idle weeks,
while hitting the road for four conference games and a non-conference
matchup up the road in Dallas at SMU.
 
Nationally, only Baylor and TCU will play 11
power-4 opponents as part of their 2025 schedules.
