🏀 LET’S DANCE

Might as well just call in sick now for Friday.

For the 10th time in the past 11 years, the madness of March includes not one, but both Baylor hoops programs.

The Baylor women will begin NCAA tournament play on Friday (2:30 p.m., ESPNU) — their 21st straight appearance! — and for the first time, will get to do so at Foster Pavilion.

The Baylor men will start their NCAA tournament run Friday in Raleigh, N.C. (11:15 a.m., CBS) as a No. 9 seed against No. 8 seed Mississippi State.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Blast Off. The Baylor baseball program stayed unbeaten in midweek games this spring with a historic performance against Texas State.

Baylor rolled past the Bobcats, 19-3, highlighted by a 10-run sixth inning, a single-inning hight for the Mitch Thompson era and most in a single inning since 2021.

Three Bears had multi-hit performances, including redshirt senior outfielder Enzo Apodaca who doubled twice and homered while driving in four runs.

On the mound, six arms combined to hold the Bobcats to just three runs which came on one swing, a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. For the 11th time this year, BU pitchers allowed two walks or fewer, winning the free base battle by a large margin.

🔼 Dynamic Duo. For the fifth time in the past six seasons, the Baylor men’s basketball program had multiple representatives on the NABC All-District squads as VJ Edgecombe and Norchad Omier honored by NABC-member coaches.

Both players were named to the Gulf Coast District First Team, joining Houston, Texas A&M and Texas Tech as the others with multiple first-team representatives. This is the first time since 2021 that BU had multiple first-team representatives.

🔼 Back To Work. While most of us were fast asleep, Baylor Athletics Hall of Famer Max Muncy got his 10th MLB season underway as part of the MLB’s Japan Series.

This season is Muncy’s eighth with the reigning World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers, who opened up the year with a 4-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

With a hit in tomorrow’s game against the Cubs, the former Bear could become just the fifth player in MLB history to record at least one hit in 5 or more countries.

🔼 Still Shining. Her time with the Bears may have been over four years ago, but former BU standout Avery Skinner is still shining on the court.

This past week, Skinner was named an Overseas Star of the Week by Avid Volleyball unleashing 23 points and hitting .514 to help her Chieri 76 squad into the quarterfinals of Serie A1 of the Italian Professional League.

Skinner and her squad will be playing for a spot in the semifinals for the Lega Volley Femminile Serie A1 Tigota, a match that will be available on VBTV ($).

🎥 BAYLOR+: THE SIC ‘EM POD

Winners of three straight, the Baylor equestrian squad is getting hot at
the right time with the Big 12 Championships just a few weeks away.

Get to know the leader of that program, Casie Maxwell, who is in her eighth season
with the Bears and has helped Baylor reach the top-10 nationally this year.

🤔 SIC ’EM TRIVIA

As we mentioned, the 10-run sixth inning on Tuesday was the highest single inning total scored by the Baylor baseball team since 2021.

How many runs did the Bears score in that historic inning in 2021?
