📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Oops, They Did It Again. That deja vu we talked about it? You’ve reached that point of the email.
Yup, that’s correct, the top-ranked Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling grabbed swept all three NCATA National awards for the second straight week.
Payton Washington earned Athlete of the Week, Jordan Gruendler was named Specialist and Leavy McDonald was recognized as the top-performing freshman.
It is the sixth time in program history that the Bears have earned all three awards in the same week, and the second time BU has done it in back-to-back weeks. The first was in the 2021 season, Baylor earning all three awards on April 8 and again on April 16.

🔼 Building Champions. Each month, the Student-Athlete Center for Excellence selects four champions of the month.
This award recognizes student-athletes who achieve their personal bests in the areas of academic achievement, athletic success, character formation and spiritual growth.
Each of these student-athletes was nominated by a SACE team member based upon their embodiment of each of the four pillars.
JL Van Rensburg (men’s track & field), Azul Alvarez (soccer), VJ Edgecombe (men’s basketball) and Molly Haywood (women’s track & field) have been selected as the Student-Athlete Center for Excellence (SACE) December Champions of the Month.

🔼 Tickets Punched. Who doesn’t love a trip to the beach in March?
This one’s a business trip for the Baylor track & field squad, who will be sending nine student-athletes to the 2025 NCAA Indoor National Championships in Virginia Beach, Va. on March 15-16.
BU will be represented in nine different events, including two events by veteran star Alexis Brown, who earned a spot in both the long jump and the 60m dash.

🏈 YOUR CHAIR, SIR…

One of our own will have the head seat at the big table next fall.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Baylor Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Mack B. Rhoades IV will serve as the chairman of the 2025 College Football Playoff Selection Committee.
Rhoades will be in his second year of a three-year term on the CFP selection committee after playing a role in the selection of the first 12-team field in CFP history in 2024.
In his eighth year leading Baylor's athletics program, Rhoades will replace Michigan Athletics Director Warde Manuel, who served as the chairman in 2024. Previously N.C. State's Boo Corrigan chaired the committee for two seasons.
