🔼 Never Say Die. One thing is for sure, you don’t ever have to question the heart of the 2025 Baylor baseball squad.

For the ninth time this spring, the Bears earned a come-from-behind victory, grinding out a 9-8 extra inning win at UT-Arlington on Tuesday night.

Senior Cortlan Castle delivered a two-out, two-strike RBI double in the top of the 10th to put the Bears up for good and junior right-hander Grayson Murry locked things down to earn his first-career save.

Senior outfielder Wesley Jordan had a big day at the plate with three hits and two RBIs, including his team-leading ninth home run of the season, and freshman infielder Pearson Riebock added three hits and two RBIs of his own to spark the Bears offensively.

🔼 Getting Defensive. Start lining up your plans now, there’s going to be some block parties at Foster Pavilion next season.

Early this week, Baylor men’s basketball announced the addition of High Point University transfer Juslin Bodo Bodo and Rice forward and Waco native Caden Powell.

Hailing from Yaounde, Cameroon, Bodo Bodo helped the Eagles to an NCAA tournament berth in 2025 and brings the experience of 71 starts over the last two seasons in High Point. Coach Drew is excited to add a player that possesses his skillset to the roster.

The 2025 Big South Defensive Player of the Year for the second-straight season, Bodo Bodo started all 35 games for an NCAA Tournament team. He pulled down a team-high 8.4 rebounds per game, which also ranked second-best in the conference and 47th-best in the country. One of the best offensive rebounders in the country, he helped the Eagles to 29 wins and a Big South regular-season and conference-tournament title.

Powell, a McDonalds All-American nominee played his high school ball down the street at Midway High School, where he was an all-region honoree. Signing with Wyoming as a three-star prospect out of high school, he has 92 games of Division I experience under his belt across stints with the Cowboys and Owls.

Last season with the Owls, Powell was the only player to start all 32 games, averaging 10.4 points and a team-leading 7.2 rebounds per game. The former Super Centex first-teamer led Rice, shooting 56.5% from the floor, scoring in double figures 16 times to go along with five double-figure rebound games.

🔼 Fresh Faces. Winning experience fills up the resume of the newest member of the Baylor women’s hoops program.

Early this week, Coach Collen announced the addition of Oklahoma transfer Kiersten Johnson, a dynamic 6-4 forward that spent the past three seasons with the Sooners, and SEC All-Freshman guard Yuting Deng from Auburn.

Last season at OU, Johnson played in 30 games her junior season, averaging 2.3 points off the bench in 6.6 minutes on the court. As a sophomore, Johnson averaged career highs of 5.4 points and 3.2 rebounds in 33 games, with a career-best outing against Baylor for the lone 20-point game of her career off eight field goals and four free throws. She also had double-digit scoring games that season against Alabama State and TCU.

Johnson assisted Oklahoma to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the Sweet 16 this season after opening the first and second rounds in Norman.

Deng, a 6-foot-2 guard joined the Tiger ranks for the final 13 games of the regular season, seeing an average of just over 28 minutes per game, appearing in all but one available contest. In those 12 games, Deng averaged 11.8 points and 2.5 boards while totaling six steals, five assists and a pair of blocks for recognition on the SEC All-Freshman Team.

🔼 Building Champions. Each month, the Student-Athlete Center for Excellence selects four champions of the month.

This award recognizes student-athletes who achieve their personal bests in the areas of academic achievement, athletic success, character formation and spiritual growth.

Each of these student-athletes was nominated by a SACE team member based upon their embodiment of each of the four pillars.

Nate Ezekiel (men’s track & field), Kai Hayes (soccer), Pearson Riebock (baseball) and Victoria Davis (volleyball) have been selected as the Student-Athlete Center for Excellence (SACE) March Champions of the Month.
