🔼 What A Blast. You know what they say about having a strong middle field duo, right?

On Tuesday, that’s exactly what the Baylor baseball squad put on display as Travis Sanders and Tyriq Kemp combined for five hits in a thrilling 3-2 victory over a tough Houston Christian squad.

Sanders provided the heroics as he led off the bottom of the ninth with a walk-off 396-foot solo blast to send the Bears faithful home happy.

Senior right-handed pitcher Will Glatch secured the win, his third of the season, with two strikeouts in the final 1.1 innings. The Baylor pitching staff held its opponent to two or fewer runs for the third time this season, fanning a combined six batters and scattering eight hits in the victory.

🔼 Oskar The Grouch Great. For the second time this season, Baylor men’s tennis standout Oskar Brostrom Poulsen was named the Big 12 Player of the Week.

Brostrom Poulsen helped guide his team to an undefeated weekend on its Utah road slate with the Bears going 2-0 at Utah (4-2) and BYU (4-2). The Denmark native had a successful weekend with a 3-1 overall record, being perfect in singles and earning a ranked win in doubles.

Overall, Brostrom Poulsen is 22-11 for the 2024-25 season, 11-6 in singles this spring and 13 doubles victories.

🔼 Star Among Stars. It was a big week for incoming Bear Tounde Yessoufou, who shined at the McDonald’s All-American festivities in Brooklyn the past few days.

On Monday, Yessoufou wowed the crowd en route to a victory in the Slam Dunk contest and on Tuesday, he turned heads, consistently earning praise from those following the game closely.

He helped the West squad to their first victory in four years, finishing with nine points, six steals and four rebounds.

🔼 Hey Now, She’s An All Star. She’s not done quite yet.

Baylor women’s hoops senior Aaronette Vonleh has one more college hoops game to compete in as, this week, she was selected to play in the 2025 Lilly Women's College All-Star Game, set for April 5 in Tampa as part of the city-wide Final Four festivities.

Coming off a Second Team All-Big 12 season in her lone campaign in Waco, Vonleh was the leading scorer for BU with 538 points, enough for 14.9 per game, shooting a team-high 58.5%.

She is the first player since NaLyssa Smith (2022) to put up 500 points in a single season.

The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 at 2 p.m. CT and will feature 20 of the country's brightest starts for one final opportunity to represent their schools on either Team Lieberman or Team Miller, coached by Naismith Hall of Famers and basketball legends Nancy Lieberman and Cheryl Miller.

🙌 TODAY’S THE DAY!

The Bear Necessities are back for Baylor Giving Day, and this year, we're adding something new to the mix! In addition to supporting sport-specific giving through Excellence Funds that empower Baylor Athletics, we’re excited to include GXG, Baylor's NIL initiative, as part of our Bear Necessities.

While both are distinct, with the Excellence Funds focused on program-specific needs and enhancements and NIL supporting immediate student-athlete opportunities, each is essential to fulfilling our mission of Preparing Champions for Life.

Together, they help us provide the resources and support necessary for our student-athletes to thrive both in and out of their sport. Your gift to the Bear Necessities makes a lasting impact on the future of Baylor Athletics — join us in making a difference today!
