🔼 Lockin’ It Up. The Baylor Bears are heading back to the Big 12 Tournament for the first time in 2022.

A dramatic three-run rally in the top of the ninth sparked BU past UCF, 5-4, on Thursday night in Orlando to secure at least a top-11 seed in the postseason, which is set to begin next week in Arlington.

Down to its final out, BU scored the game-tying run on senior catcher Cortlan Castle's RBI infield single, then senior outfielder Ty Johnson stole third and scored on a UCF throwing error to go in front for good. Sixth-year senior closer Gabe Craig locked things down in the bottom of the ninth, earning his 10th save of the season with a 1-2-3 frame.

The victory is the 14th come-from-behind win of the season for the Bears.

🔼 Ridin’ The Wave. Battling injuries and an up and down season, the Baylor women’s golf team finished the year strong and made sure to make their postseason berth count.

Sitting as the seventh seed at NCAA Regionals, the Bears rolled into a fifth-straight NCAA Championship appearance and today will tee off in the opening round with the 30 best teams in the country.

The No. 28 overall seed, BU will go off the No. 10 tee on Friday morning at 10:20 a.m. CT.

🔼 Power Pair. A power pair of leaders for the Baylor softball program were honored on Thursday with junior Shaylon Govan and grad student Lillie Walker both being recognized on the NFCA All-Region Third Team.

A junior from Katy, Texas, Govan led BU with a .407 batting average, seven home runs and 28 RBIs. The 2023 and 2024 All-American leads the Big 12 in batting average, which earned her the Big 12 Batting Champion honor, while also leading the conference with her .587 on-base percentage. Setting a Baylor all-time record in career-walks with 143, she also set Baylor career records in batting average (.407) and on base percentage (.558). Govan also earned All-Big 12 first team honors for the third-straight season, Big 12 Scholar Athlete of the Year, and Big 12 All-Defensive Team. 
 
A graduate senior from Inola, Okla., Walker was a staple in the circle for the Bears this season, picking up second team All-Big 12 honors while ranking in the top five in conference play in wins (8), innings pitched (96.1), strikeouts (49), appearances (21), games started (15), shutouts (3) and complete games (9). This marks the graduate transfer's first all-region honor of her career.
