🎥 BAYLOR+: TAKING FLIGHT

For Alexis Brown, every jump tells a story.

Of sacrifice, faith, strength, and the quiet moments few ever see. After winning
the NCAA Indoor Championship in long jump, her senior season isn’t just
about medals — it’s about finishing what she started.

As she prepares for one final push toward the Outdoor World Championship, this
is a portrait of a young woman leaping beyond limits, and chasing a dream that
has been years in the making. This is more than a season. It’s the
culmination of a legacy.

🔼 Lace ‘Em Up. The madness is about to hit the tracks!

Today, the Baylor track & field program kick off NCAA postseason action with the Bears competing in 17 different events over the next four days in College Station at the NCAA West Preliminary Round.

The Bears are set to battle for spots in the NCAA Outdoor Championships, as those who finish in the top-12 of their respective events will lead the way to Eugene, Oregon, for the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Who’s lacin’ em up for BU this week? Let’s check the list.

The Baylor women sit among the elite nationally, as the women are slated at No. 6 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's rankings. Since week-by-week rankings began in 2008, this is the highest the BU women have been ranked heading into the NCAA First Round.

Baylor will be joined in College Station by over 100 schools from the West region. All athletes in attendance competing at the West Preliminary Round are ranked in the top 48 nationally in their respective events.

🔼 BIG Addition. Coach Drew and his staff added a fourth member to the incoming class of 2025 and it’s a BIG addition.

A 6-foot-11 forward, originally from Nigeria, by way of Georgia, Soyoye is coming off his prep year at Blair Academy in New Jersey. While with the Buccaneers, he helped them to a 24-4 record and the New Jersey Prep Open Championship.

Described as "an elite rim protector" by his coach at Blair, Joe Mantegna, Soyoye previously played for Chapel Hill High School in Georgia. In his time with the Panthers, they were a postseason staple, winning a regional title in 2023 and making the Sweet 16 during Soyoye's final year in 2024.

The fourth member of the class of 2025, he joins five-star prospect Tounde Yessoufou, Link Academy wing Andre Igoudala II and Italian forward Maikcol Perez for the 2025-26 season. In total, BU has inked 12 new players to scholarships this offseason.

🔼 Building Connections. Last week, Baylor student-athletes from across various programs stepped into a challenging few days in every facet.

Thanks to the folks at Faith & Sports Institute, student-athletes attended the Champions (Re)Defined Retreat, which tested them mentally, physically and spiritually.

Well done, Bears!
