It was a great spring for the Baylor men’s tennis team, ranking in
the top-20 nationally for most of the spring season and earning a spot in the NCAA Second Round before dropping a tough match on Sunday to #16 Texas A&M.
One of the Bears’ leaders all spring was Zsombor Velcz, who stopped by
the Sic ‘Em Pod this past week to talk about his journey to Waco.

🔼 Stormin’ Norman. Aiming for a fifth straight trip to the NCAA Championships, the Baylor women’s golf team heads to the Sooner State to battle with the rest of the field at the Norman Regional.
Advancing out of a regional in each of the last four seasons, the Bears are one of just eight teams in the country to make six of the last seven NCAA Championships. Baylor's most experienced postseason player, Sera Hasegawa, will miss the tournament with an injury, but head coach Jay Goble is confident his team has what it takes to make it to a fifth-straight NCAA Championship.
"We're excited to get to play relatively close to home for a chance to extend our season," he said. "While it's definitely not going to be easy, this is not uncharted territory for us. We've been to four straight NCAA Championships, including making it out of Vegas last year as a No. 7 seed. Sera not being able to go is unfortunate, but we are confident in the group we are taking. Each of them has played a role in helping us get to this point. Now, it's about taking advantage of a fresh start and trying to make that top five and get back to La Costa."

🔼 A Special Spring. The magic was there all spring long for the Baylor men’s tennis team, who spent much of the year ranked in the top-20 nationally.
However, the magic ran out just a little too short as the 16th-seeded Aggies of Texas A&M pulled out a 4-3 heartbreaker over the Bears on Sunday to advance to the Sweet 16 and conclude Baylor’s 2025 season.

🔼 Tourney Time. It’s Big 12 Tourney week!
That’s right, the Baylor softball team will head to Oklahoma City this week to begin their quest for a Big 12 title.
Entering Wednesday’s opening round action, the Bears are the eighth seed in the championship, set to take on ninth-seeded Kansas at 2:30 in the first game of the event.
