🔺 Sharp Shooter. And another one…
Coach Drew and the Bears added another big name for the upcoming 2024-25 season with the official introduction of Cal transfer Jalen Celestine.
The Ajax, Ontario, native brings 80 games of college experience with 45 starts in the Pac 12. Celestine finished second in the Pac 12 in three-point field goal percentage with a 44% clip last season, along with 8.7 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. Additionally, he shot 45.1% from the floor and recorded 11 double-figure scoring performances, including nine in Pac-12 play.
🔺 What Can Brown Do For You? A wholllle lot for the BU track & field squad.
For the second time in program history, a Bear grabbed a Big 12 conference outdoor accolade.
Senior Alexis Brown was named the Big 12 Women's Performer of the Year for the 2024 collegiate outdoor track and field season on Thursday.
Brown ended the 2024 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championship, the first of the senior's career, with two titles in the long jump and the 4x100-meter relay.
The Kennedale, Texas, native is the first Bear to cross the 22-foot mark in the women's long jump in program history, landing a conference championship-winning 22-5 leap at the Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium. Brown set three program records in the event throughout the outdoor season (21-11, 21-11 ½ and 22-5) all at her home track in Waco.
She wrote history as the first outdoor women's long jump conference champion in program history in both Big 12 and Southwest Conference eras.
🎙 SIC ‘EM POD: JOHNNY KEEFER
On today’s episode, we’re sitting down with one of Baylor’s best golfers in program history, Johnny Keefer.
From the moment he got to Waco, the graduate senior quickly became a staple in Coach McGraw’s lineups, and has continued to climb the all-time program ranks in a number of categories.
Now, in his 5th year, Johnny is leading a surging Bears team to postseason play.
🤔 SIC ’EM TRIVIA
As we mentioned, Alexis Brown gave BU only its second Big 12 Performer of the Year Award winner.
