For Alexis Brown, every jump tells a story.
Of sacrifice, faith, strength, and the quiet moments few ever see. After winning
the NCAA Indoor Championship in long jump, her senior season isn’t just
about medals — it’s about finishing what she started.
This past week, she earned a ticket to Eugene for the NCAA Championships
and the chance to finish off an already historic season. This is more than
a season for Brown though, it’s the culmination of a legacy.

🔼 Tickets for 14, Please. It’ll be busy week for the travel planner of the Baylor track & field squad.
The Bears punched their tickets in 14 different events at the NCAA West Prelims in College Station, led by Tiriah Kelley, who earned a spot in different events for BU.
Heading to Eugene for Baylor along side Kelley is Igor Olaru (Hammer), Demario Prince (110mH), Nathaniel Ezekiel (400mH), De’montray Callis (200m), Alexis Brown (Long Jump), Janae De Gannes (Long Jump), Molly Haywood (Pole Vault), Tenly Kuhn (Pole Vault), Ruth Kimeli (10000m), Calisha Taylor (400mH), Women’s 4×100, Women’s 4×400 and Men’s 4×400.
The NCAA Championships are set to begin Wednesday, June 11th at prestigious Haywood Field at the University of Oregon.
🔼 Experienced Addition. A veteran coaching presence will be joining the sidelines for the Baylor men’s basketball program this upcoming season.
Late last week, Coach Drew announced the addition of Ron Sanchez as associate head coach for the Bears.
The 29-year coaching veteran joins the staff after serving the last two seasons with the Virginia Cavaliers, most recently as interim head coach for the 2024-25 season. Sanchez is the third assistant on Drew's staff with head-coaching experience, bringing another unique perspective to the bench next season.
Prior to his season as the interim head coach at Virginia, he spent 11 years with the Hoos as an assistant under the younger Bennett, including four seasons as associate head coach. His first stint ran from 2009-18, as assistant coach from 2009-15, before a promotion to associate head coach prior to the 2015-16 season. He returned as associate head coach in 2023-24, before being named interim head coach prior to the 2024-25 season.
Sanchez has helped coach a top-10 defense in 11 of his 16 seasons as an assistant coach, including six years as a top-5 defense and twice the nation's top-ranked defensive unit, dating back to 2003-04 at Washington State.
Max Muncy hit career homer 200 and 201 today in a dominant 7 RBI performance.

🔼 Club 200. Last week, we mentioned that Baylor Athletics Hall of Famer Max Muncy was on the cusp of becoming the first Bear in program history to reach 200+ career HRs in the big leagues.
Muncy did so in a BIG way this weekend, launching not one, but ✌️ long balls in the Dodgers’ dominant win on Saturday afternoon against the Yankees.
The former Bear now has 201 HRs, 196 of those have come with the Dodgers, placing 8th all-time in the history of the organization, which is rich with some of the game’s all-time greats.
🏈 FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS
Baylor Athletics is devastated by the unexpected loss of redshirt freshman student-athlete Alex Foster, a cherished member of the Baylor football program from Greenville, Miss. Alex, 18, tragically passed away in the early morning hours of May 28 in his home state.
