🏈 AMONG THE ELITE

Whenever the words “Hall of Fame” are involved, it’s something special.

On Monday afternoon, Baylor legend Robert Griffin III earned his spot among the elite as he was featured on the ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

The 2011 Heisman Trophy winner, Griffin had a historic career for the Bears from 2008-11. He set or tied 54 school records, including 20 career marks, 26 single-season and eight single-game records, including career passing yards, total offense, completions and passing TDs. He was a consensus first-team All-American in 2011, helping lead the Bears to a No. 12 nationally ranking, which came after a 2010 season that saw BU advance to its first bowl game in 16 years.

Griffin boasts a bevy of awards from his Baylor career, in addition to the Heisman, including Big 12 Male Athlete of the year, the Davey O'Brien and Manning Awards, and freshman All-America honors in 2008. He was inducted into the Baylor Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022 and the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.

A two-time academic All-American, a three-time dean's list selection and a 10-time academic honoree by the Big 12 Conference, Griffin graduated with a bachelor's degree in political science in 2010.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Academic Aces. Not only did the Baylor baseball squad raise the bar with their play on the field, but also in the classroom.

On Tuesday, five different Bears earned Academic All-District accolades, including Enzo Apodaca, Gabe Craig, Lucas Davenport, Ty Johnson and Wesley Jordan.

In addition, Craig was selected as a CSC Academic All-American finalist and will advance to the national ballot.

🔼 Fresh Faces. The sidelines for the Baylor women’s hoops program will include a few new faces next season.

This week, Coach Collen announced the additions of Jaelyn Richard Harris and Tez Dumars as assistant coaches for the 2025-26 campaign.

Richard Harris joins the Bears after two seasons at Omaha, one season at Gulf Coast State College and a playing career at LSU. While in Nebraska, the Mavericks combined for 22 wins with Ja Harvey being named the 2025 Summit League Freshman of the Year along with five additional All-Summit League selections announced in April.

Dumars comes to Waco after assistant coaching stops at Louisiana Tech, North Texas and West Texas A&M, but spent the 2024-25 season at Kansas State as a graduate assistant manager under long-time Baylor men's associate head coach Jermone Tang, mentoring two All-Big 12 selections.

🔼 Put It On The Board. Former Baylor standout Nick Loftin crushed this fifth inning pitch into the left field stands in St. Louis on Tuesday night for his first HR of the season.

Loftin now has two career longballs in 229 career at-bats for the Royals.

The former Bear returned to the big leagues last week and has now hit safely in four of the six games this week, hitting .263 on the season for KC.
