🔼 He’s The Man. Baylor safety Michael Allen has been named to the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year watch list. Members are nominated by their schools and they all demonstrate a record of leadership by exhibiting exceptional courage, integrity, and sportsmanship both on and off the field. Allen has dedicated over 100 hours of his time to work in the Waco community.
🔼 Three Takeaways. Head football coach Dave Aranda met with media yesterday to talk about Saturday’s win and look ahead to the upcoming weekend. Here are Jerry Hill’s three takeaways:
Clean It Up — Baylor was flagged nine times for 85 penalty yards against Prairie View. The Bears are tied for 91st in the nation in fewest penalty yards with 62.5 per game.
Injury Update — Quarterback DJ Lagway and center Koltin Sierck are both on track to return. Devonte Tezino will miss the rest of the season with a severe leg injury.
‘Does All The Dirty Work’ — Defensive tackle Hosea Wheeler “does all the dirty work,” according to Coach Aranda.
🔼 Future Bears. Baylor basketball announced Future Bears Days presented by McLane Children’s for the upcoming season! Men’s basketball will host Future Bears Day on Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. against Jackson State. Women’s basketball will host it on Dec. 9 against Texas Southern. The teams will welcome students grades 8 and under to the games.
🔼 Game Time. Baylor football will kickoff against Colorado at 11 a.m. on Sept. 26. The game will air on either ESPN or ESPN2.
