🔼 Cat Scratch Fever. The depth of the 19th-ranked Baylor volleyball team was on full display in the Big 12 opener on Wednesday night.

Four different Bears racked up double-digits in kills, while Auburn transfer Jackie Barrett Frazier tallied her seventh double-double of the season as Baylor rolled past previously undefeated Arizona, 3-1, in the conference opener for both programs.

Barrett Frazier posted her third match of 40+ assists, dishing out 42 on the night, while also racking up 10 digs on the evening. Senior Lauren Briseño racked up 17 digs for the fourth time in the past seven matches for Baylor.

Alicia Andrew (14), Allie Sczech (13), Elise McGhee (11) and Manuela Bibinbe (10) all reached double-figures.

🔼 Rising Stock. Wednesday will be a day that former Baylor star DiJonai Carrington won’t soon forget.

Not only did her and her Connecticut Sun teammates eliminate the Indiana Fever and advance to the WNBA Semifinals, Carrington was also named the league’s Most Improved Player.

The former Bear averaged career highs of 12.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 steals this season. In addition, she recorded a career-high 25 games with 10 or more points.

Carrington received 28 of the 67 votes from a national media panel. Los Angeles Sparks forward Dearica Hamby finished second with 18 votes. Minnesota’s Bridget Carleton came in third with 15.

In her fourth WNBA season, Carrington started all 39 games in which she played and led Connecticut to a 28-12 record.

🔼 Sackin’ Steve. Just three weeks into his Baylor career, Steve Linton has flexed his muscles.

The transfer from Texas Tech and Syracuse, racked up five tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble this past weekend at Colorado.

With his performance, Linton was named the Shrine Bowl Texas Star of The Week.

🔼 Freaky Fast. Less than 25 minutes into the game on Saturday in Boulder, Jamaal Bell accomplished something that has only been done four times in program history.

Bell got loose for a 100-yd kickoff return, becoming just the fourth Bear ever to record a return TD of 100 yards.

On that return, Bell reached a top speed of 21.3 mph, the fifth fastest player in all of college football this past weekend. He was one of just five players in the country to reach 21+ mph in week three.

🏈 OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS

It’s time to turn the page.

This weekend, an opponent that Baylor took into double OT last season visits Waco as the #22 BYU Cougars are set for an 11 a.m. showdown at McLane.

2021 was the last time a ranked BYU squad came to Waco and that resulted in a thrilling 38-24 Baylor victory.
