🎙 BAYLOR+: INSIDE BAYLOR SPORTS

On today's episode we're recapping Baylor football's dominant
season opening 45-3 win against Tarleton State.

We'll give you a deep dive on what we saw offensively and defensively,
and what it all means for this year's team moving into week 2.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Forty Piece. Well, that’s one way to introduce yourselves to the Baylor Family.

A highlight reel start from newcomers Dequan Finn and Ashytn Hawkins led the Bears to a dominating 45-3 season-opening victory over Tarleton in front of over 42,000 on Saturday at McLane Stadium.

In his Baylor debut, Finn tossed for 192 yards and two TDs, while rushing for another one. Returners Richard Reese and Dawson Pendergrass combined for 35 carries and 140 yards.

Defensively, newcomer Keaton Thomas ran back a pick six, while Matt Jones and Jackie Marshall both had seven tackles to lead the balanced effort.

🔼 Late Night Thriller. No current member of the Baylor soccer team was alive the last time BU beat Texas A&M, a perennial national power.

That streak ended in a late night thriller on Friday night when Tyler Isgrig lofted a beautiful shot into the top right corner in the 85th minute to give the Bears a 1-0 victory over the Aggies.

Baylor has now won four straight entering back-to-back road tests at SMU and Iowa this week.

🔼 Weekend Sweepin’. Always good to start your season with a win.

What’s even better is starting with THREE!

Sophomore Kendall Murphy had a breakout weekend being named MVP of the Baylor Classic after helping leading the Bears to sweeps of Abilene Christian, Tulsa and Campbell.

Murphy racked up 30 kills in the three matches with a hitting percentage of .460 to lead the way. Lauren Briseño shared the top libero honors with 34 digs, while Jackie Barrett Frazier was named top setter for the classic with 65 assists.

🎥 BAYLOR+: THE MIRACLE

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of one of the most inspiring underdog stories in college football history, Baylor+ announced today the upcoming premiere of a new original documentary, The Miracle on the Brazos.

The film tells the complete story of the 1974 Baylor Bears football team under legendary head coach Grant Teaff, who defied all odds to capture their first undisputed conference title in 50 years.

Predicted to finish last in the Southwest Conference, Baylor dropped its first two games of the 1974 season before the Bears won 8 of their next 9 – including the iconic comeback victory against Texas – en route to an appearance in the Cotton Bowl.
