,
🐻The Official Daily Newsletter For Baylor Athletics
Happy Tuesday Bear Country. How do you think Bruiser would like hanging on the Eiffel Tower?
He might as well get used to it as a heavy contingent of Bears are kicking off Olympic action this weekend in Paris!
We’ve got all the info on that and more in today’s Brew! Check It Out Below!
🥇 Bears & Baguettes
🏆 Building Champions
⏱ Countdown To Kickoff: 39 Days
🐻 And much, much more!
🙌 BEARS & BAGUETTES
At least one Baylor Bear has brought home the gold in seven of
the last eight Summer Olympics. What do you say we make it
eight of the past nine?
Seven different Bears will look to extend that run at the
2024 Olympics in Paris, which kicks off this weekend.
Those Bears will be representing four different nations: Brittney Griner (basketball) and Avery Skinner (volleyball) for Team USA; current Baylor student-athletes Nathaniel Ezekiel (400m hurdles) and Chinecherem Prosper Nnamdi (javelin) in track & field for Nigeria; John Peers (men’s tennis – doubles) and Kristy Wallace (basketball) for Australia; and Nuni Omot (basketball) for South Sudan. Baylor track and field head coach Michael Ford will also be in Paris as men’s sprints/hurdles coach for Team USA.
🏆 BUILDING CHAMPIONS
Each month, the Student-Athlete Center for Excellence selects four champions of the month.
This award recognizes student-athletes who achieve their personal bests in the areas of academic achievement, athletic success, character formation and spiritual growth.
Each of these student-athletes was nominated by a SACE team member based upon their embodiment of each of the four pillars.
Brayson McHenry (football), Josie Sutter (Acrobatics & Tumbling), Jonah Burton (football), and Layla Alexander (Acrobatics & Tumbling) have been selected as the July Champions of the Month.
🏈 COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 39 DAYS
Number of the Day: 39
It’s happened not once, not twice, but 3️⃣ times, with the last coming
in this blowout of Rice back in September of 2015.
What are we referring to?
That would be the single-game program record for most
first downs achieved by the Bears with 39.
🎟 YOU PICK IT!
This week, Baylor Athletics unveiled a new Mini Plan option for the upcoming 2024 Football season.
The new “You Pick It” mini plan offers flexibility and allows fans to build their own mini-plan from three tiers of options to enjoy McLane Stadium this fall.
The Baylor Family can purchase the You Pick It mini plan for $225. Each plan includes the Bears' Homecoming Game on Oct. 26 against Oklahoma State and from there fans can build their plan based on their schedule for the remaining two games.
