šŸ“ˆ STOCK UP

šŸ”ŗ Opportunity Knocks. Itā€™s the first time in five seasons.

Opportunity is knocking on the door for the Baylor womenā€™s basketball team, who is set to host the top-five opponent at the Ferrell Center since 2018-19 when the top-ranked Huskies of UConn visited Waco.

BU opened its season last Monday when it toppled Southern, 85-53, behind a balanced scoring attack of four in double-figures led by a 20-point outing from Dreā€™Una Edwards in her Green & Gold debut.

šŸ”ŗ Connect Four. For the third time in four seasons, the Baylor Bears will be looking to start a year a perfect 4-0.

Playing their fourth game in eight days, BU hosts Kansas City (2-0) at the Ferrell Center in the second half of a hoops double dip in Waco.

Thanks to a great first week, the Bears jumped five spots and now sit at #15 in the latest AP Top-25.

One thing is for sure with this yearā€™s squad, thereā€™s plenty of options.

In each of the first three games of 2023-24, the Bears have had four or more players in double-figures in scoring in each game. BU currently has five guys averaging double digits, led by freshman sensation Jaā€™Kobe Walter, who has led the team in scoring in two of the first three outings.

šŸ”ŗ He is HIM. Think about the long list of names that make up Baylor menā€™s basketball history.

No matter the name you come up with, NONE of them did what Jaā€™Kobe Walter did in his first collegiate week as the newcomer was named Big 12 Conference Player of the Week.

Walter is the FIRST freshman in Baylorā€™s program history to take home the Big 12 Player of the Week honor. He the 38th different Bear to be named conference player of the week.

Entering the season with plenty of expectations, Walter delivered on a big stage on the opening night of the season with 28 points against Auburn. He finished the week averaging 16.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals.

Of the 14 20-point performances in the conference this week, Walter's was not only the highest-scoring performance, but it was the only one to come against a power-conference opponent.

šŸŽ„ BAYLOR+: THE VAULT

Tonight at the Ferrell Center, the Baylor womenā€™s hoops is locked in one of many matchups that will feature two top-25 teams.

The fifth-ranked Utes visit Waco tonight and what better way to get you amped up than checking out a little magic in last yearā€™s upset of the then-ranked #17 Oklahoma, 81-70 in Norman.

šŸ¤” SIC ā€™EM TRIVIA

We mentioned earlier that tonight is the first top-5 opponent to visit the Ferrell Center and take on BU womenā€™s hoops since 2018-19.

In that game against the top-ranked Huskies of UConn, who led all scorers and helped the Bears pull off the historic upset?

šŸŽ‰ TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Kalani Brown.

We know, we know, itā€™s no surprise. The All-American had a night to remember back on Jan. 3, 2019, when she poured in 22 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to lead the way for the Bears that night.

šŸ» See you tonight, yā€™all!
