Good Morning Baylor Fam. You know those trips that you go on that you always end up coming back with more than you packed?

The BU track & field squads faced that situation this weekend, but this time, they surely didn’t mind packing the extra hardware for the trip back to Waco.

We’ll recap it all and much more! Check it out!

🐻 And much, much more!

🏀 TOURNEY TIME

There’s simply nothing like March.

The thrills. The agony. The excitement.

The third-seeded BU men’s hoops team is set to kick off action in the 2024 Big 12 Tournament this week at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City. The Bears will await a second round winner that could be Kansas, Cincinnati or West Virginia.

Follow along with all the action at Big 12 Championship Central.

🎙 SIC ‘EM POD: SHAYLON GOVAN

Ever since she started playing softball at 8 years old, Shaylon Govan has always been an underdog.

After major success at her previous school, Govan came to play for Coach Moore at Baylor, and the experience has changed her life.

Now, with a roster full of returners, and a hot start to the season, Shaylon and her team have their goals set high.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Double Dose. Clear out some space in the trophy case. We’ve got new hardware coming back to Waco.

The BU track & field squads showed out on the national level with both Nathaniel Ezekiel and Alexis Brown earning All-American accolades at the NCAA Indoor Championships this past weekend.

Finishing eighth in the country, Ezekiel earned his second straight All-American honor in the 400m on Saturday. It’s the sixth career podium finish for the Delta State, Nigeria native.

His honor came after Brown claimed her first career All-American accolade on Friday with her fifth place finish in the long jump.

🔺 Five For Fighting. While we’re clearing out more space, we might need more space in the hoops case as well.

J'Kobe Walter headlined a group of five Bears highlighted by the Big 12's All-Conference awards announced Sunday evening.

The Preseason Big 12 Freshman of the Year joined Jalen Bridges, RayJ Dennis, Langston Love and Yves Missi as Baylor's five Big 12 honorees. The Bears tied Kansas' five selections for the second-most in the conference behind only Houston's six.

🔺 Connect Four. This past weekend, Hurd Tennis Center was busier than a Costco on a Saturday morning.

The BU tennis squads combined to go 4-0 at home over the weekend, with the women picking up two BIG conference wins and extending their win streak to five, while the men grabbed two non-conference wins to improve their overall ledger to 15-4 this spring.

🔺 Heartbreak in KC. And now we wait.

The BU women’s squad battled their way to the Big 12 quarterfinals, but fell to a hot-shooting Iowa State squad on Saturday morning.

A tough finish from the field, allowed the Cyclones to build a comeback and ultimately topple the Green & Gold, 67-62.

The Bears will now wait for next Sunday and Selection Sunday to see where they’re headed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
