🔺 No Bad Blood Here, Just A Top-5 Dub. What a Night! What a Night!
The largest student crowd in BU women’s hoops history helped spark the first top-5 win since 2020 as the Bears battled past 4th-ranked Utah, 84-77, on Tuesday evening.
With nearly 5,000 in the stands, Baylor jumped out to an early 11-2 lead and never looked back using a balanced attack to continue to light up the scoreboard and ignite the crowd.
Veteran Sarah Andrews led the way with 18 points, including four 3-pointers, along with two assists and two steals. Dre’Una Edwards, who started her collegiate career at Utah, had a HUGE night with 14 points, six rebounds and four blocks.
Baylor hit 10 3-pointers on the night, while holding the Utes to just 25-percent from long range.
🔺 Four Of A Kind. That’s how you keep the spark going.
Less than 30 minutes after the BU women pulled off the upset of #4 Utah, the 15th-ranked Baylor men took the court for the fourth time in eight days and rolled past Kansas City, 99-61.
Newcomers Jayden Nunn and Ja’Kobe Walter both had 20-point nights to lead four Bears in double-figures, led by a big night from behind the arc as BU drilled 13 3-pointers in the victory.
Nunn, a transfer from VCU, finished with a game-high 25 points on 8-of-9 shooting, including 4-of-5 from long range, while also dishing out four assists.
Walter continued his hot start with a 23 point performance, which also included four three-pointers for the freshman. He chipped in four rebounds as well.
Jalen Bridges (12) and RayJ Dennis (11) also finished in double-figures, with Dennis also throwing in eight assists in the victory.
🔺 Shine Bright On The Diamond. As Coach Thompson continues to build a bright future for the Baylor baseball program, that future just got a little brighter.
During the fall signing period, the Bears inked 16 highly-touted players to next year’s class.
Eleven of the incoming Bears hail from Texas, while the others represent Alabama, Indiana, Iowa, Mississippi and Pennsylvania, respectively. The group is a mix of four right-handed pitchers, four outfielders, three left-handed pitchers, three infielders, a catcher and a two-way right-handed pitcher/catcher.

🔺 Head Of The Class. Last year, the Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling team took home their 8️⃣th NCATA Championship.
Competition wasn’t the only place the Bears had success as 20 of the student-athletes were honored this week as part of the 2022-23 Academic All-Big 12 At-Large Team for their success in the classroom last year.
Baylor made up nearly 30-percent of the entire Big 12 At-Large Team.
The at-large team recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at league institutions that participate in sports outside of Big 12 competition. The sports included for the 2022-23 season were acrobatics & tumbling, beach volleyball, men's gymnastics, men's soccer and rifle.

On a night we’ll remember for a while, the BU women not only upset 4th-ranked Utah, but did it with style.
The 84 points scored by the Bears is the moved against a top-five opponent in the regular seasons since a victory over Notre Dame in 2011.
How many points did BU score against the Irish that day?
Got a guess?
