🎙 INSIDE BAYLOR SPORTS

April 11th Edition:
The Weekend Preview

On today’s show we look ahead to Baylor Baseball’s weekend series against BYU in Provo and Baylor Softball’s big weekend series versus Texas.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Power Pair. Special teams make special plays from special players.

That’s what we’ve heard, right?

Well thats the case for the top-ranked BU Acrobatics & Tumbling squad who closed out their perfect regular season this past weekend with a win at Oregon.

Riley Chimwala named NCATA Athlete of the Week, while Payton Washington earned the Freshman award. This is Chimwala's fourth Athlete of the Week award and Washington's second Freshman nod.

Senior base Chimwala competed in 10 heats and the team event to help Baylor defeat Oregon on the road for the completed season sweep of the Ducks.

🔺  By The Numbers. The Green & Gold continue to be ranked amongst the country’s best.

Checking in with some of the latest polls to come out this week, in a “way-too-early” Top-25 poll for next hoops season, the Baylor women checked in at #13 nationally, while the women’s track & field squad held serve at #19 in the latest USTFCCCA Ratings Index.

🔺 “The Baylor Boys”. As we mentioned, Davis Wendzel made his much anticipated MLB debut this week with the Texas Rangers.

Wendzel didn’t have to look far for a familiar face as his former BU teammate Cody Bradford was already with the Rangers.

Bally Sports sat down with the duo to talk about their friendship, their time at Baylor and much more.

🔺 Ridin’ High. While their season may be wrapped up, the awards keep piling in for the Baylor equestrian program.

This week started with 4️⃣0️⃣ Bears earning NCEA academic accolades and now, a pair of standouts earned monthly Big 12 honors.

Academically, seven Bears were named to the NCEA First Team, while four earned spots on the second team. Additionally, 29 Bears were placed on the NCEA Academic Honor Roll.

On the riding side, fifth-year Dominika Silvestri and freshman Sadie Peters collected monthly Big 12 honors. Silvestri was named Flat Rider of the Month while Peters was dubbed Reining Rider of the Month.

These awards mark Silvestri's first monthly award of the season and the 13th of her career, while Peters earns her career-first monthly accolade.

🎙 SIC ’EM POD: ALEXIS BROWN

On this week’s episode we’re joined by Baylor Track & Field’s Alexis Brown

The 2024 Indoor All-American is in the midst of an incredible senior year for the Bears, but getting to this point in her career has not come without some challenges.

Now, Alexis is fully healthy and at her best, and is continuing to strive for excellence.

🤔 SIC ’EM TRIVIA

With Tuesday’s win at UTSA, Baylor softball head coach Glenn Moore reached his 900th career victory with the Bears.

🎉 CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES

Long ago, Kool & The Gang taught us to Celebrate Good Times and on Nov. 2nd, Baylor will do exactly that.

A pair of 11-2 and Big 12 Conference Championship teams will be celebrated during the upcoming 2024 Baylor Football season, as the Bears plan to recognize student-athletes from the 2013 and 2014 teams.

On Nov. 2 when Baylor plays TCU at McLane Stadium, the program will commemorate the 2013 and 2014 Big 12 Conference Championship teams.
