🔺 Back In The Lab. Is there anything better than seeing these pictures of our Bears back at work?

The preparation is underway indeed.

We can’t wait for an exciting fall here in Waco.

🔺 Nothing Like Bear Country. With the 2023 fall season exactly two weeks away, now is the perfect time to join our brand new Bears and Beyond campaign.

The Bear Foundation is launching a new way to support our incredible group of 500+ students who proudly wear the Green and Gold.

🔺 Shining Her Light. Behind the scenes, there are so many that serve those student-athletes that fill us with pride.

Much like so many followers of Jesus, Holly McKenzie shines her light behind the scenes, exuding compassion, kindness and humility.

McKenzie came to Baylor in last July to serve as Baylor’s Senior Sports Ministry Coordinator.

Because of her outstanding work, she was recently presented the One Stand, One Accord Staff Award.

🔺 Gabe The Great. Power. Speed. Domination.

That’s what Gabe Hall instills on the Baylor defensive line and his talents have drawn eyes from across the country.

Yesterday, Hall was named to the 2023 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List.

The senior out of Waller, Texas, leads a BU defensive front that held opponents under 100 yards rushing in five games last season, including in each of its first four contests.
 
In 2022, Hall played in all 13 games for the Bears and made 12 starts at defensive end. He totaled 36 tackles, including 5.5 for loss, with 4.5 sacks and four quarterback hurries.

The 6-6, 287-pounder has already racked up a handful of preseason all-conference accolades from Phil Steele (first team), Athlon Sports (third team) and College Football Network (honorable mention) and previously warranted a mention on Bruce Feldman's "Freaks List" ahead of the 2022 campaign. Hall carries an 18-game tackle streak into 2023, with multiple stops in 12 of his last 18 outings.

🏈 COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 30 DAYS

30 different BU football alums have been a part of the one of the biggest sporting events of the year… the Super Bowl.

It all started in Super Bowl I with Bobby Ply on the Kansas City Chiefs, all the way through Clay Johnston with the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI.

Ray Crockett (pictured) is one of several Bears to have appeared in more than one Super Bowl with former OL Keith Bishop leading the way with three appearances with the Broncos.

🔺 Road Trip!!! Gather your friends, join your Baylor fam and head on out to Orlando for an awesome road trip to one of our newest conference foes.

Jump on board and join the Bears Foundation as we enjoy a few days in Orlando, the sun and some great football.

We are just TWO WEEKS away from the start of the 2023-2024 Baylor athletic calendar. The Baylor soccer squad kicks things off (literally) when they travel to Oregon to take on the Ducks on August 17th at 9 pm CST.

Two weeks later, the soccer, volleyball, cross country and football teams are ALL in action. Block off that weekend and make sure you’ve got the Green and Gold ready!

Order those shirts. Secure those tickets.

🤔 SIC ’EM TRIVIA

Golden Moments. Every Bear fan remembers this iconic moment from one of Baylor’s all-time best athletes.

This week is the 27th anniversary of Michael Johnson becoming the first man to win both the 200m and 400m in the same Olympics.

Baylor and the Olympics have been tied together for over a century and in the last Summer Olympics (Tokyo 2020, but hosted in 2021), a school record seven former Bears participated in the Games.

I know it’s tough to believe, but we don’t have much video footage of King, but the former Baylor track & field standout earned silver in both the standing broad jump and the standing triple jump.

Just do yourself a favor and read a little bit about the Olympic Games in 1904. It’ll provide you with a few head shakes.
