🔺 Tip Of The Cap. Sometimes, it’s even bigger than the wins.
Don’t worry, there was plenty of those too, but for BU fifth-year grad student Isabella Harvison, the story is so much bigger.
This week, she was honored as the 2024 Cissie Leary Award recipient for Sportsmanship in the Texas region.
The ITA Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship goes to a Division I women's player from each region who displays inspiring dedication and commitment to her team, which has enhanced her team's performance and exemplified the spirit of college tennis. It dates back to 1997 and is in memory of the late and widely admired Penn women's tennis coach Cissie Leary.
The Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Calif., native tied for the highest singles win total on the team in the 2023-24 season with 17 victories, 12 coming from the dual match spring season spread between court Nos. 2-5. She also tallied 12 doubles victories, the most of which with Luivob Kostenko.
🔺 Mound Mentor. One of the most experienced voices in college baseball is heading to Waco.
Yesterday, BU head coach Mitch Thompson announced the addition of Sean Snedeker as the program's pitching coach.
Snedeker, a 31-year coaching veteran, brings 18 years of experience as a collegiate pitching coach to Waco after spending the last seven seasons at Lamar. Prior to his time with the Cardinals, Snedeker made stops at Oral Roberts (2013-17) and Duke (2007-12) after a 13-year career in professional baseball.
During his time at the collegiate level, Snedeker has produced 38 MLB draft picks, five All-Americans, five conference pitchers of the year and 29 all-conference selections. At each of his three previous collegiate stops, Snedeker has led a pitching staff to a top-10 ERA ranking nationally, including Lamar in 2024 (3.79, 2nd ) and 2023 (3.96, 6th ), Oral Roberts in 2017 (3.06, 6th ) and Duke in 2008 (3.71, 6th ).
