📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Johnny On The Spot. It was a historic weekend for the BU men’s golf program as the Bears earned their first 54-hole cut at the NCAA Championships since 2017.

Baylor went on tied for 14th at the 30-team event, which tied for the third-best finish in program history.

Leading the charge was a record-breaking showing from Johnny Keefer, who set a program best with a top-15 finish. Keefer fired an even-par 288 for the four rounds to tie for 11th overall.

The previous best was Lorenzo Scotto in 2010, when he finished 25th overall.

🔺 Fought Til The End. The first Super Regional appearance since 2017. Nearly 40 wins.

All of that came with several injuries and adversity throughout the spring.

These Bears are a historic squad that fought til the very end.

🎙 SIC ‘EM POD: COLE POSEY

On this week’s episode we get to know Baylor Baseball’s Cole Posey,
a fifth year senior from Georgetown, Texas.

Growing up in a Baylor family, Cole was a huge fan of the Bears,
and always dreamed of suiting up for them one day. And after
a few stops around the country, that dream came true 2 years ago.

In his final year, the do-it-all first baseman played some of the best ball
of his career, while also pursuing some big dreams away from the diamond.

🤔 SIC ’EM TRIVIA

This season, sophomore sensation Shaylon Govan set a new program record with a .579 on-base percentage, which ranked second in the entire country.

Prior to Govan’s arrival in 2023, how many other Bears in program history had posted an OBP of .500 or higher?

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: 2.

McKenzie Wilson (.534 in 2022) and Ashley Monceaux (.508 in 2007) are the only other two players in program history to reach the .500 OBP mark in a single-season.

Govan has now done it in two consecutive seasons and holds the best and third-best single-season marks of all-time.

🐻 Have a great day, y’all!
