On this week’s episode we’re catching up with Baylor
baseball legend and former big leaguer David Murphy.

Murphy had an incredibly successful career in the Green & Gold that
included a 1st team All-American selection, and went on to hear
his name called in the first round in the 2003 MLB draft.

Now, after a long career in the majors, David Murphy
is continuing to pour into the game he loves.

🏀 ALL IN A DAY’S WORK

🎾 ALWAYS REMEMBER YOUR FIRST

They always say you never forget your first and that’s the case for rising sophomore Devin Badenhorst of the Baylor men’s tennis team.

He won both the singles and tops titles at the ITF M15 Hillcrest recently and now sits at his highest career professional singles ranking at #684 in the world.

In the singles final, Badenhorst defeated top-seeded and 387th-ranked Kris Van Wyk in straight sets, 7-6(6), 6-4, to claim his title.

In doubles, Badenhorst teamed up with Baylor teammate Luc Koenig. The pair took down the No. 1 seed doubles team, Alec Beckley and Alexander Donski, in the first round, 3-6, 7-5, 10-7. In the finals, Badenhorst and Koenig swept their No. 2 seed opponents Ishaque Eqbal and Aryan Shah, 6-3, 7-6(3)

In his freshman season, Badenhorst was named the ITA Texas Region Player to Watch after he earned a 14-6 singles record and 13-9 doubles record.

🎟 YOU PICK IT!

This week, Baylor Athletics unveiled a new Mini Plan option for the upcoming 2024 Football season.

The new “You Pick It” mini plan offers flexibility and allows fans to build their own mini-plan from three tiers of options to enjoy McLane Stadium this fall.

The Baylor Family can purchase the You Pick It mini plan for $225. Each plan includes the Bears' Homecoming Game on Oct. 26 against Oklahoma State and from there fans can build their plan based on their schedule for the remaining two games.

🎙 TOMORROW, TOMORROW!

We are less than two months away from the start of the 2024
Baylor football season and after enjoying some fireworks this weekend, the Bears are taking the stage in one of America’s brightest cities.

Tomorrow, Coach Aranda and five representatives of the Bears will be taking the stage at Big 12 Media Day at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Helping preview next season for Baylor will be Ketron Jackson Jr.,
Carl Williams IV, Keaton Thomas, Matt Jones and Richard Reese.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Two.

Max Muncy (2019, 2021) and Hall of Famer Ted Lyons (1939) are the only two former Bears to appear in the Mid-Summer Classic.

On Lyons’ team back in 1939? Just some guys named DiMaggio, Greenberg and Feller.
