No better way to prepare for the upcoming NCAA Tournament than taking an in-depth look at one of BU’s tennis stars, Christopher Franzten from the perspective of a fellow student-athlete.

Baylor+’s Faith Lynch sat down with Franzten earlier this year to talk about his journey and this year’s squad.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Let’s Dance. The calendar is turning to May tomorrow and that means one thing… It’s time to dance.

The Baylor men’s and women’s tennis earned spots in the NCAA Tournament for the 26th and 25th time, respectively.

The 35th-ranked women’s team is headed to the Stanford regional and will open with 31st-ranked LSU on Friday in California. A win would set the Bears up with a Saturday showdown with the winner of Stanford, the #3 ranked team in the country and UMass.

Baylor is 39-20 all-time in the NCAA Tournament and is making its 18th appearance under the direction of head coach Joey Scrivano. The Bears' selection is the fourth-straight for the program.

On the men’s side, the 40th-ranked Bears are headed to College Station to battle with San Diego in the first round. With a first-round win, the Bears face the winner of the hosting Texas A&M Aggies and Rice Owls in the second round.

The Bears' at-large bid is the 26th consecutive in program history.

Baylor holds a combined record of 42-5 in the first two rounds of the tournament and an overall mark of 67-24.

🔺 Forever A Legend. He’s been a legend in Waco for decades.

No matter where he is. That position will never change.

Former BU standout and longtime member of the athletic department, Walter Abercrombie announced his retirement as the Executive Director of the "B" Association, following the completion of his twentieth year leading Baylor's athletics letterwinners' organization.

Abercrombie was named to the position in 2004, where he served as the executive director of the athletic department's 4,500-member letterwinners' organization. During his tenure, the "B" Association increased its membership by 50%, its support programs by 70% and its endowments and financial contributions by 400%.

🔺 Awards Aplenty. Ninth straight national title and seven individual titles.

The trip back from Fairmont, W. Va. was already one filled with plenty of extra hardware for the National Champion BU Acrobatics & Tumbling program.

Well, the Bears are packed even tighter now.

Riley Chimwala earned Athlete of the Year, Jordan Gruendler was named Specialist of the Year and Payton Washington is Freshman of the Year for the NCATA among Division I programs. This is Gruendler's second-straight season earning Specialist of the Year. Gannon swept the DII awards while UMHB swept for DIII.

Chimwala, Gruendler, Washington and Bayley Humphrey were each named NCATA All-America. It was Humphrey's third time being named All-America, and Chimwala's fourth. A total of 62 student-athletes were nominated for the distinction from 21 institutions and only 16 individuals were selected.

🎉 CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES

Long ago, Kool & The Gang taught us to Celebrate Good Times and on Nov. 2nd, Baylor will do exactly that.

A pair of 11-2 and Big 12 Conference Championship teams will be celebrated during the upcoming 2024 Baylor Football season, as the Bears plan to recognize student-athletes from the 2013 and 2014 teams.

On Nov. 2 when Baylor plays TCU at McLane Stadium, the program will commemorate the 2013 and 2014 Big 12 Conference Championship teams.
