The Biggest Surprises for Baylor Women's Basketball

On today’s show, we talk Baylor Women’s Basketball with 2019 National Champion Caitlin Bickle as they are now back in Top 10!

We’ll talk the Oregon game, our biggest surprises of the season and what’s next for the Bears.

🔺 Leveling Up. While millions of people around the world are receiving holiday cards nearly every day this time of year, Baylor alum Gurleen Kaur earned a different type of card this week.

Kaur became the first player in the history of the Bears women’s golf program to earn her LPGA card after finishing in a tie for fifth at the LPGA Tour Q-Series.

🔺 Three’s Company. Eight straight NCAA Tournaments. Eight straight trips to the second round.

Safe to say, there’s a bit of a foundation built with the BU volleyball squad.

Three pillars of that current foundation were honored with spots on the AVCA Southwest All-Region teams.
 
Manuela Bibinbe and Averi Carlson were named First Team All-Region while Elise McGhee was named Honorable Mention.
 
A total of 55.6% of Baylor's points accumulated in 2023 came from its underclassmen, with McGhee and Bibinbe accounting for 41.8% of the remaining points totaled on the year.

🔺 Doublin’ Down. Always a good day when you take home an award.

Even better when you take home two.

That was Wednesday for sophomore Lauren Reid of the Baylor equestrian team, who was named both the NCEA and Big 12 Fences Rider of the Month for November.
 
Reid picked up honors in Fences after a 4-0 month, leading the Bears to a four-meet winning streak in the event.

Waco is hosting the “Eclipse Over Texas: Live From Waco” experience on April 8, 2024.

Waco is one of the best places to view the 2024 eclipse with over four minutes of totality.

The event will have telescopes, educational activities, programs, food trucks, and so much family fun! You won’t want to miss this one!

👷‍♂️ ALMOST TIME…

Folks, we are just a few weeks away from an exciting new chapter for Baylor Athletics.

Today is just one of 4️⃣ games left inside the Ferrell Center as the brand new, state-of-the-art Foster Pavilion is set to open early in 2024.

Let’s fill Ferrell a few more times and send it off in style!

🤔 SIC ’EM TRIVIA

Averi Carlson burst onto the scene in 2022 with a standout freshman season with the Green & Gold. She dished out over 1,200 assists and earned Honorable Mention AVCA All-Region honors.

This year, she stepped up her game and this week, was named AVCA All-Region First-Team honors.

With 2,446 assists in just her first two seasons, where does Carlson rank all-time in program history?

This time of year is all about giving to others and spreading the holiday cheer.

Baylor+ went along with BU softball recently to spend a morning at Crestview Elementary.
