🔺 No More Comfort Zone. “Get comfortable being uncomfortable.”

It’s a phrase constantly uttered by coaches all around the country at various levels to their teams.

This summer, rising fifth-year senior TJ Franklin took it to heart and pushed himself in a new way that he’s seen from leaders of the past.

In the latest edition of View From the Hill, Franklin opens up about stepping out of his comfort zone and stepping up for this year’s team.

🔺 Life In The Fast Lane. While most college students are packing to head back to their campuses for the fall semester, two Bears are packing for a different kind of trip.

Rising juniors Imaobong Uko and Nathaniel Ezekiel are both in the final stages of preparation for the World Athletics Championships in Budapest for their home country of Nigeria.

Uko and Ezekiel were officially named to the final roster for Team Nigeria unveiled this week. Uko will compete in the 400m, the mixed 4×4 and the women’s 4×4, while Ezekiel, the reigning NCAA 400m hurdle bronze medalists will compete in his premier event, as well as the mixed 4×4.

The Championships get underway on August 19 and run through August 27.

🔺 Earning The Appointment. Entering his eighth season at Baylor and fourth as head coach, BU men’s tennis head coach Michael Woodson now has a new line to his resume.

Recently, Woodson was elected as part of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's DI Men's Operating Committee.

"It is truly an honor to be able to represent our region on the ITA DI Operating Committee," said Woodson. "Our governing body of college tennis is on the cutting edge of promoting our great game locally and internationally, and it is an exciting time to be able to lend a hand as we navigate the future of our sport at the highest level. I'm excited to get started with this incredible group of coaches."

🔺 Setting the Course. Lace ‘em up Bears, it’s almost go time.

That’s right, as our fall teams are in full swing, our Cross Country squads are lacing them up and preparing for another busy fall on the trails.

🤔 SIC ’EM TRIVIA

Piling Up Ws. Four games into the 2022 Bears volleyball season, the wins started to pile up.

It all started with a 3-1 victory over San Diego State on Sept. 2nd.

It would take 26 days for the Bears to lose again with a string of 10 straight victories during that stretch.

The streak marked the sixth time in program history that BU had piled up win streaks of 10+.

What’s the longest winning streak in program history?

You know, when you earn a spot in the NCAA Final Four, there’s a good chance you’ve notched plenty of wins during the year.

The 2019 Baylor volleyball squad is proof as the team started the season with 16 straight victories, finishing with a 29-2 mark and a berth in the program’s first-ever NCAA Final Four.
