🎙 SIC ‘EM POD: ENZO APODACA

From the time he started playing baseball, Enzo Apodaca has always tried to stay true to himself, and play his own brand of ball. 

After earning Freshman All-American honors and adding a Cape Cod League All-Star nod to his resumé, Apodaca entered the transfer portal and found a new home at Baylor. 

Now in his Junior year, he is hoping to provide leadership and confidence to a Baylor baseball team with a lot to prove.

Recapping The Weekend Hoops Slate

We’ll hear from Scott Drew, Nicki Collen and Bill Self as we recap both Baylor basketball games that took place over the weekend.

We’ll discuss the growth of Yves Missi and what Baylor women’s basketball will need to do to be a Top 16 team and host in the NCAA Tournament.

🔺 Queens Of The Mountain. Throughout the season, the BU women’s team has shown off their potent offense.

On Saturday, it was their defense that flexed its muscles as the 18th-ranked Bears stifled red-hot West Virginia, 65-58. The Mountaineers entered the game ranked #22 and winners of seven straight.

Sophomore forward Darianna Littlepage-Buggs scored 10 of her game-high 14 points in the first half, helping the Bears out to a first-half cushion. She recorded her second-straight double-double, fourth of the season and 18^th of her career, adding 10 rebounds and a block.

Rounding out the double-figure scorers, Aijha Blackwell and Dre'Una Edwards had 12 and 10 points, respectively. The Bears also finished with a 17-5 edge in bench points and had 16 assists on 25 buckets.

🔺 Super Sunday. Make it 29.

The streak lives on as the #1-ranked Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling squad battled their way to a victory over 11th-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor, 279.870-272.465.

From last week’s opening victory, the Bears improved their scores in 14 of the 20 heats and topped their previous overall score by more than 4 ½ points.

🔺 To The Wire. It was one of the best games of the season in one of the toughest environments in the country.

The 13th-ranked Bears gave #4 Kansas all they could handle at Fogg Allen Fieldhouse, but came up just short as the Jayhwaks pulled out the 64-61 victory on Saturday night.

Freshmen sensations Yves Missi and Ja’Kobe Walter led the way, combining for 38 points on the night.

🎥 BAYLOR+: ALL BG, ALL THE TIME

This weekend, one of the greatest Baylor student-athletes of all-time will be honored when Brittney Griner has her No. 42 jersey retired at Foster Pavilion. 

Throughout the week, Baylor+ will be your one-stop shop with rarely seen footage, highlights and interviews throughout Griner’s incredible four years in Waco. 

Baylor+ will also be along for the ride as the BU legend returns to campus for her special weekend.

All of this will culminate in a Baylor+ original film, “Bigger Than Life”, which will take an in-depth look at Griner’s time as a Bear and the impact she left on the program, athletic department and University as a whole. 

“Bigger Than Life” will be set to be unveiled in March.
