🎙 INSIDE BAYLOR SPORTS
Dec. 21st Edition:
Hoop Talk
On today’s show we recap last night’s thriller in New York where Baylor men’s basketball fell to Duke 78-70.
We’ll do a deep dive on this matchup and tell you what the difference in the game was, plus we check in on the Baylor women as the Bears remain undefeated at 10-0 on the season.
📈 STOCK UP
🔺 Perfect 🔟. From the start of the season, the depth of the Baylor women’s squad has been on display.
In South Florida, the story was no different as the Green & Gold had four players in double-figures and used a balanced attack and strong defense to roll to a 10-0 start with a 61-36 win over Providence.
A strong defensive start helped the Bears out to a 36-12 lead and they would hold on from their in a game that struggled to find its rhythm with 41 combined turnovers and 40 combined fouls.
Making her second-straight start, sophomore Bella Fontleroy hit three 3-pointers and scored a game-high 14 points. Sarah Andrews finished with 12 points, while Kentucky transfer Dree Edwards chipped in with 10 points and eight boards. Yaya Felder, who was making her first started, added 10 points and nine rebounds.
🔺 Tough One. Anytime you take the floor against Duke, you know you’re in for a battle.
Wednesday night at the World’s Most Famous Arena, the Bears did just that, battling the Blue Devils to the very end, but dropping a 78-70 decision to the 21st-ranked team in the country.
Baylor used an early second half run to grab a six-point lead, but Duke answered back with a run of their own and held on down the stretch to pick up the victory.
Freshman Yves Missi had a big performance under the lights with 11 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks.
🔺 Fine Fifteen. There’s something special about joining the Baylor family.
15 incoming Bears will find that out as they’ve officially signed on to join the Green & Gold next season as part of National Day Signing Day 2024.
