🐻 The Official Daily Newsletter For Baylor Athletics

Good Morning Bears. “You gotta know when to hold them, know when to fold them..”

Don’t worry Kenny, we’re going to hold on to our aces as they showed exactly why Coach McGuyre was excited to see how this year’s young BU volleyball team would grow throughout the fall.

The Bears warmed up Cincinnati in true BU fashion for our football squad to head that way this upcoming weekend.

What all do we have stirrin’ in today’s Brew? Check it out!

🎥 BAYLOR+: THE FOLLOW

What does game week look like for the Baylor football team heading into a critical Big 12 matchup?

Go inside positional meeting rooms, the game day locker room, practice & sideline huddles, and so much more in this week’s edition of The Follow.

🔺 Skyline Chili For Everyone! Prior to the year, head coach Ryan McGuyre talked about how his young BU volleyball team would look different each week as they continued to grow (no seniors on the roster).

Well, the 20th-ranked Bears look to be turning one of those corners after a weekend sweep of Cincinnati (3-1 and 3-1) and have now won four of their past five matches.

Junior Elise McGhee must really love Skyline Chili as she led the offense in both matches, totaling 35 kills in the two wins along with four service aces. Sophomore Averi Carlson finished with 97 assists on the weekend and has now dished out 45 or more assists in five of the past six BU matches.

BU returns home next weekend to host UCF, who currently sits at 7-0 in Big 12 play.

🔺 All Tuned Up. Two weeks.

That’s all that stands between the Baylor cross country teams and the Big 12 Championship after the Bears raced to their final regular season tune up at this past weekend’s Dale Watts Cross Country Course for the Arturo Barrios Invitational.

In one of the Bears' largest meets of the season, the women's squad was led by freshman Rosanna Pugh to a 34th -place finish while senior Ryan Hodge led the men in 31st place.

Every Bear in the women's race improved her time from the Gans Creek Classic 6,000 meters, while Ackman, Duran, and Hodge posted a quicker mark in the men's 8,000 meters.

🔺 George, George, George of the Hardwood. The NBA is finding out what we all knew.

Keyonte George is that dude.

George is shining under the bright lights of the NBA preseason and this weekend he had one of his best showings in the Jazz’s win over the Blazers.

He is one of 10 former Bears in NBA camps.

🔺 Sunday Show Out. While the BU football squad had a bye week, our alums surely didn’t as several former Bears continued to shine on the biggest stage.

NFL teams with Bears on their active rosters went 4-1 yesterday, including five tackles for 8-year pro Xavien Howard, the most since the first two weeks of the season.

Howard and his Dolphins are 5-1 and sit tied for the best record in the league. He did leave Sunday’s win over Carolina with tightness in his groin.

Terrell Bernard had his third double-digit tackle game in the first six weeks, two of his tackles were for losses in Buffalo’s Sunday Night Football showdown with the Giants.
