📈 STOCK UP
🔺 In Good Company. Even before he dropped another 20-plus point outing, Ja’Kobe Walter was honored among the elite.
Prior to Tuesday’s late night showdown with Kansas City, Walter was one of 50 players named to the Wooden Award Preseason Watch List.
This Wooden Award distinction comes as the latest in a long line of accolades already accumulated by Baylor's fabulous freshman.
Walter is one of just three freshmen and seven Big 12 representatives on the list.
In just his first four games of the season, Walter has shown his ability as a three-level scorer, averaging a team-leading 18.0 points to go along with 4.5 rebounds, while shooting nearly 40-percent from long range.
🔺 Power Pair. Preach SA! Preach!
Sarah Andrews and company showed the nation what this team is all about on Tuesday night.
Before Andrews and her teammates took the court tho, the veteran guard and teammate Darianna Littlepage-Buggs were ranked among the country’s best.
The Baylor duo were named to the Women’s Preseason Top 50 Watch List for the John R. Wood Award.
Chosen by a preseason poll of national college basketball experts, the list is comprised of student-athletes who are the early front-runners for the most prestigious honors in college basketball, the Wooden Award All American Team™ and Most Outstanding Player Award.
With a spot on the Wooden Award watch list, Andrews is making her third appearance on a preseason list this year. The two-time All-Big 12 selection earned a WBCA All-America Honorable Mention after a successful junior season in 2022-23. In games against AP Top 25 teams last year, Andrews averaged 16.9 points per game in nearly 39 minutes of action.
Littlepage-Buggs is on her second preseason watch list with a selection to the Wooden Award Top 50. The unanimous 2023 Big 12 Freshman of the Year, Littlepage-Buggs enters her sophomore season coming off a record-setting true freshman campaign for the Bears.
🔺 Time To Bear Down. Facing yet another top-25 opponent, the youthful BU volleyball team dropped a tough 3-0 road decision to #17 Kansas on Wednesday night.
The Bears were led by Elise McGhee and Allie Sczech with 12 kills apiece, Manuela Bibinbe just behind with 11. Averi Carlson had another double-double with a team-leading 13 digs and 36 assists.
