๐Ÿ”บ Twice As Nice. For the first time in Big 12 menโ€™s golf history, the Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award has gone to the same person for two straight seasons.

With Keefer's second selection, BU men's golf has now claimed the Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year award in four of the last seven seasons. He joins Matthew Perrine (2017) and Colin Kober (2019), contributing to Baylor's 30 scholar-athletes of the year, which is second-most in the Big 12.

An accounting major from San Antonio, Texas, Keefer enjoyed another successful season on and off the golf course leading the team in stroke average for a second-straight season (71.62), with a team-high 90.3% of his rounds counting towards the teams' score, his 19 rounds at par or better also paced the Bears, as did his five top-10 finishes.

Carrying a 3.68 GPA, Keefer was also named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team for a third time, in addition to being selected as a GCAA All-American Scholar and a College Sports Communicators All-District honoree.

๐Ÿ† CHAMPIONS FOR LIFE

๐Ÿˆ COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 16 DAYS

No better place to go with #16 than our guy Hal Presley.

#16 is one of the players that fans are most excited to see on the field this fall after a breakout sophomore season, finishing second on the team with 31 catches, 382 yards and four TDs.

He earned Honorable Mention All-Big 12 accolades and caught a pass in all 13 of Baylorโ€™s games last fall.

A native Texan himself, Presley had an All-State career at Mansfield Summit High, piling up over 1,000 yards receiving during his senior season. He caught 29 TDs in his final three high school seasons.

The Bears are coming.

๐Ÿค” SIC โ€™EM TRIVIA

In Good Company. This week, Johnny Keefer was named the Big 12 Conferenceโ€™s Menโ€™s Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year.

Itโ€™s the first time a Baylor athlete had ever won back-to-back Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards and the first time any menโ€™s golfer in Big 12 history had won back-to-back accolades.

However, he is the second Bear to win the award in consecutive season.

Can you name the only other BU student-athlete to win the honor back-to-back years?

Think you got it?

๐ŸŽ‰ TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Laura Lonardi.

Lonardi is one of the finest, well-rounded student-athletes in Baylor history, winning the Big 12 womenโ€™s golf scholar athlete of the year in both 2015 and 2016.

In 2016, she also became the sixth Baylor student-athlete to win the NCAAโ€™s Elite 90 Award.

During her time in Waco, she earned a 3.96 cumulative grade point average while majoring in mathematics and statistics. On the course, she earned two straight trips to the NCAA Championships (2015 and 2016).

In 2015, she helped the Bears to a Big 12 Conference championship in 2015 and a national runner-up showing.
