This week, seven members of the BU track & field program earned their spot at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, which are set for next weekend in Boston.
Earning the most qualifications in the Ford era and tying the third-most in the last 10 years, Alexis Brown, Laurenz Colbert, Nathaniel Ezekiel, Demar Francis, Molly Haywood, Alencia Lentz and Demario Prince all qualified for the final meet of the collegiate indoor season.
The Championships will be hosted at the TRACK at New Balance, a brand new facility in Boston that opened in 2022 and is hosting its first collegiate championship meet.
🔺 Three’s Company. It was a super sweep for the #1 ranked BU Acrobatics & Tumbling squad.
For the first time since 2021, the Bears swept the NCATA Weekly awards.
BU had Riley Chimwala named Athlete of the Week, Jordan Gruendler earn Specialist and Payton Washington earn Freshman after the third week of competition. This is Chimwala's second Athlete accolade of the season.
🔺 The Chaney Gang. Another new face is joining the Green & Gold on the gridiron.
Former All-Southeastern Conference linebacker Jamar Chaney has been tabbed to coach Baylor's inside linebackers.
Chaney comes to Waco after serving as an assistant coach at Western Kentucky in 2023, working with the outside linebackers. He previously spent the 2022 season as an analyst and recruiting coordinator at Florida, working with the linebackers, which followed two seasons at his alma mater, Mississippi State, as a senior defensive analyst.
