🎙 INSIDE BAYLOR SPORTS
Nov. 6th Episode: Recapping Saturday and Looking at Tip-Off Week
On today’s show, we recap Baylor’s heartbreaking 25-24 loss to Houston. We’ll hear from both head coaches with Dave Aranda and Dana Holgorsen comments following the game.
We’ll also talk some Baylor Basketball as the Bears take the hardwood this week on men’s and women’s sides to open the 2023-2024 season.
📈 STOCK UP
🔺 Praise Pilin’ Up. As the 2023-2024 season gets underway, senior WBB guard Sarah Andrews has a stockpile of preseason praise.
Over the weekend, Andrews was one of 50 student-athletes nationwide to earn a spot on the 2024 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's Watch List.
The two-time All-Big 12 selection earned a WBCA All-America Honorable Mention after a successful junior season in 2022-23. In games against AP Top 25 teams last year, Andrews averaged 16.9 points per game in nearly 39 minutes of action. She reached double-figure scoring in 15 of 18 Big 12 games with 20-plus point performances in six of those contests and a career-best 30-point outpouring in a top-25 win on the road at Oklahoma.
Additional preseason honors for Andrews include a unanimous all-conference selection and a spot on the Nancy Lieberman Award Watch List, which recognizes the top point guards in NCAA Division I women's basketball.
🔺 Feeling 100. Coach McGuyre was truly feeling 💯 this weekend.
His 21st -ranked Baylor volleyball team made quick work of Texas Tech on Saturday in Lubbock, sweeping the Red Raiders, 3-0, to earn Coach McGuyre his 100th career Big 12 victory.
The Bears were led by Allie Sczech in kills with 13, had four players tied with two blocks each, and Lauren Briseño had her first 20-dig match of the season. Setter Averi Carlson had a double-double with 31 assists and 11 digs, but also served up a career-high six aces for the Bears.
🔺 Working Overtime. The BU football continues to show their heart, laying it all on the line, but this weekend, a visit from the Cougars of Houston, gave the fans a little more football than originally planned.
A two-point conversion on Houston’s TD in the opening overtime period was enough as the Cougars pulled out a 25-24 overtime victory.
BU had comeback and forced OT thanks to a TD pass from Blake Shapen to Hawkins Polley with less than 30 seconds in regulation.
Shapen finished 29-of-37 with 263 yards and two TDs, including connected on 17 of his final 21 passes on the afternoon.

🎥: What They’re Saying - Coach Aranda and Players Postgame
Along one of Waco’s most respected drives, 15 minutes from Baylor, 10 minutes from Ridgewood Country Club and Lake Waco, sits this prominent community focal point.
With over 4800 sf feet in total with a fully equipped guest apartment included, on over an acre and a half - this Waco home is incomparable. Set back on the exceptionally large lot and peeking through hundred-year-old live oak trees, visitors are greeted by a distinguished wrought iron tracery and columns framing a southern French style front porch.
The entire estate has been meticulously restored, including electrical, plumbing, full finish out and more. In any major Texas city, this home would be unattainable and twice the expense. Here in Waco, it is one of the most prestigious and beautiful homes there is.

There’s no doubt about it. Sarah Andrews can FILL IT UP.
