⛳️ HERE’S JOHNNY!
The resume for Baylor grad Johnny Keefer is growing longer than a CVS receipt.
With three top-5s in three events on the PGA Tour Americas, Keefer continues to collect awards from his record-setting career at Baylor, named to the College Sports Communicators All-America Second Team this week.
Finishing with a 3.71 GPA and a degree in accounting, the San Antonio, Texas, native joins Colin Kober (2020) as the only other CSC Academic All-American in program history.
Named the Big 12 Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year for a third-straight year last month, Keefer excelled on and off the golf course, earning second-team All-America honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America and third-team honors from Golfweek, becoming the first player in program history to be named an All-American in three different seasons.
A two-time All-Big 12 selection, he is one of two players in program history to be named Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year and All-Big 12 in the same season.
🏈 COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 44 DAYS
Number of the Day: 44
After arriving in Waco two years ago, #44 Josh White has worked his way into the linebacker rotation and has big goals for the upcoming 2024 season.
White, who spent the first two years of his career at LSU, played in 11 games last fall, including his first collegiate start. He tallied 19 tackles, and a QB Hurry.
More important than any stat sheet, White earned his Baylor degree
this past spring.
🎙 SIC ’EM POD: NICK FLORENCE
On this week’s episode, we’re catching up with legendary
Baylor quarterback and fan favorite Nick Florence.
During his time behind center, Florence set Baylor’s single-game and
single-season passing yards records, while being named an All-American,
Big 12 Scholar Athlete of the Year, and a member of the All-Big 12 First Team.
Now, Florence remains an active member of the Waco community and
serves as the Associate Athletics Director for Major Gifts here at his alma mater.
🎟 YOU PICK IT!
This week, Baylor Athletics unveiled a new Mini Plan option for the upcoming 2024 Football season.
The new “You Pick It” mini plan offers flexibility and allows fans to build their own mini-plan from three tiers of options to enjoy McLane Stadium this fall.
The Baylor Family can purchase the You Pick It mini plan for $225. Each plan includes the Bears' Homecoming Game on Oct. 26 against Oklahoma State and from there fans can build their plan based on their schedule for the remaining two games.
🏈 LESSONS LEARNED
With less than 50 days to kickoff, Coach Aranda and the Bears have one thing on their minds, proving the doubters wrong… again.
Three years ago, when the Bears were picked to finish eighth in the 10-team Big 12 media poll, all they did was record the best season in program history. That 2021 Baylor team not only beat Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship game, it won a school-record 12 games (12-2) and capped it all off with a win over Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl.
With the Bears picked 12th in the 16-team league this year, Aranda said he is "excited to get to work and to prove that we're a better team than what we are perceived as."
"I look at the lessons from last year showing up in the moves that we made this year," Aranda said at last weeks's Big 12 Media Day in Las Vegas.
🤔 SIC ’EM TRIVIA
As we mentioned, we are 44 days from kickoff. Baylor great Sonny Davis was the 44th pick in the 1961 NFL Draft. Which team was he selected by? |
