📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Gabe The Great. Power. Speed. Domination.

That’s what Gabe Hall instills on the Baylor defensive line and his talents have drawn eyes from across the country.

The senior out of Waller, Texas, leads a BU defensive front that held opponents under 100 yards rushing in five games last season, including in each of its first four contests.

In 2022, Hall played in all 13 games for the Bears and made 12 starts at defensive end. He totaled 36 tackles, including 5.5 for loss, with 4.5 sacks and four quarterback hurries.

The 6-6, 287-pounder has already racked up a handful of preseason all-conference accolades from Phil Steele (first team), Athlon Sports (third team) and College Football Network (honorable mention) and previously warranted a mention on Bruce Feldman's "Freaks List" ahead of the 2022 campaign. Hall carries an 18-game tackle streak into 2023, with multiple stops in 12 of his last 18 outings.

🔺 They’re Baackkkkk. The sweat dripping. The water flowing. The whistles blowing.

The Bears are officially back in action folks!

Today, kicks off BU football training camp, while the women’s soccer team got underway yesterday in Waco.

The volleyball team will join the party later this week, with cross country coming in a few weeks.

Stay tuned to the Brew for all the sights, sounds and storylines.

🔺 We’re Leaving In On A Jet Plane…. Don’t worry though, we know when we’ll be back again.

Be sure to come on out to the Ferrell Center at 9:15 a.m. and cheer on some of your favorite Bears!

🐻 ICYMI….

🔺 ICYMI… Nothing Beats A Reese(‘s). It’s hard to find anyone who doesn’t love a good Reese’s candy.

Reese is one of just 13 Big 12 players on the list.

Already a preseason All-Big 12 honoree, Reese was tabbed a Freshman All-American in 2022 after shattering Baylor's rookie rushing record with 972 yards on 198 carries. He added 14 touchdowns, which ranked fourth-best in BU single-season history, and finished just 28 yards shy of becoming the 16th 1,000-yard rusher in program history.

The Bellville, Texas, native logged three games of 100+ yards rushing and was twice named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week in 2022.

For his efforts, Reese was also named the Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year by the league coaches and Offensive Freshman of the Year in the state of Texas by Dave Campbell's Texas Football a year ago.

🏈 COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 31 DAYS

Last fall, Blake Shapen in front of the Iowa State faithful in Ames.

It was late September in front of a sold-out Jack Trice Stadium and Shapen led a potent Baylor attack to a 31-24 victory, the first Bears win in Ames since 2016.

On that beautiful afternoon, Shapen threw for 238 yards and three TDs to lift Baylor to a 3-1 start.

The three TDs that day was a season-high for the now rising junior who will be at the helm of the Bears this fall.

🤔 SIC ’EM TRIVIA

And It’s Gooooooddd! As we mentioned above, last year’s win at Iowa State was the first for Baylor since 2016.

In that game, the Bears staged off a dramatic victory with 17 unanswered points, capped off by a game-winning field goal as time expired.

Who drilled the game-winner and bonus points if you know how long the field goal was?
