🎙 INSIDE BAYLOR SPORTS

April 3rd Edition:
Looking Ahead

On today’s show Caitlin Bickle tells us about her trip to Portland to watch the Baylor women play this past weekend, plus we give our final four picks, and take a look at the offseason for Baylor women’s hoops.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Three’s Company. With temps starting to heat up, so is the Baylor baseball squad.

BU scored 10 runs in the final two innings en route to a third-straight victory, this time defeating Houston Christian, 13-5 at Baylor Ballpark on Tuesday night.

Senior Daniel Altman gave the biggest jolt of the night in the seventh when he ripped this three-run triple into the right field corner to put the Bears ahead for good.

Junior outfielder Ty Johnson, infielder Tyriq Kemp and infielder Hunter Teplanszky each had two hits while seven different Bears drove in a run in the victory.

🔺  No Running Zone. The colors stayed the same, so why would the results change, right?

Baylor fans are used to seeing Shea Langeliers gun down runs and star behind the plate, so the start of the 2024 is no suprise.

After being among the league leaders last year in gunning runners down, the former BU star threw out three runners in Oakland’s season opening series making him the only catcher in all of MLB to have three caught stealing already in 2024.

🎙 SIC ’EM POD: KIP WELLS

On this week’s episode we’re joined by Baylor baseball legend Kip Wells

The Texas native Wells played for the Bears for 3 years and accumulated almost 300 strikeouts and a handful of Big-12 postseason awards before going on to be a 1st round pick by the Chicago White Sox in the 1998 MLB Draft.

And now, after a lengthy career in the major leagues, Kip is carrying on his legacy on the diamond by giving back to his community and training young athletes.

🤔 SIC ’EM TRIVIA

One of the most electric parts of Tuesday’s win at Baylor ballpark came when freshman reliever Stephen Sepulveda struck out a career-high seven batters, including six in a row, in his fifth scoreless outing of the season.

When was the last time the Bears struck out six consecutive hitters?

🎉 CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES

Long ago, Kool & The Gang taught us to Celebrate Good Times and on Nov. 2nd, Baylor will do exactly that.

A pair of 11-2 and Big 12 Conference Championship teams will be celebrated during the upcoming 2024 Baylor Football season, as the Bears plan to recognize student-athletes from the 2013 and 2014 teams.

On Nov. 2 when Baylor plays TCU at McLane Stadium, the program will commemorate the 2013 and 2014 Big 12 Conference Championship teams.

Answer: 2007.

Sepulveda’s performance on Tuesday was the first time Baylor fanned six consecutive hitters since Randall Linebaugh and Willie Kempf combined to do so at Texas Tech on March 24, 2007.
