📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Shark Week. It’s one of the most anticipated weeks of the year. TVs are tuned in all over the world. SHARK WEEK!

Well, the Baylor football team is hosting it’s own version of Shark Week as it hosts its third straight home game with a visit from Long Island University, the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

The Bears defensive unit will look to stay strong after going toe-to-toe with a potent Utah offense this past weekend. BU’s defense has had three sacks and six TFLs in each of the first two games of the season.

🔺 Primetime Showdown. After the BU football squad deals with Shark Week, they’ll be heading to prime time.

It will be the conference opener for both squads.

🔺 Opening Statement. Baylor’s men’s golf squad made quite an opening statement for their 2023-24 season.

Baylor grad student Johnny Keefer earned his second-career win and first in a 54-hole event, tying two other golfers at the tournament.

With a 4-under 860, the Bears finished just four shots behind TCU and nine shots behind the champion, No. 3 Vanderbilt. BU finished three shots ahead of No. 13 Virginia and five shots in front of No. 10 Oklahoma, which finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

🎉 RECORD SETTER

🔺 A Class By Himself. This past weekend, BU Volleyball Head Coach Ryan McGuyre is etched in the Baylor record books forever.

In his ninth season at the helm, McGuyre has guided the Bears to unprecedented success and over the weekend, three straight victories at the CSU Invitational moved the head coach into sole possession for most wins in program history with 183.

BU swept both Colorado State and Pacific and took home a 3-1 win over Bowling Green to improve to 4-3 on the season.

Freshmen Kyndal Stowers continued her incredible debut season with a strong weekend in Fort Collins.

🤔 SIC ’EM TRIVIA

Hats Off. As we talked about yesterday, Ashley Merrill is a goal scoring MACHINE.

The senior from Frisco, Texas has now scored in four of the past five games for the Bears and ranks in the top-25 in the country with six goals on the season.

Her hat trick on Sunday against Abilene Christian was the first since Taylor Moon recorded one against Louisiana in 2019.

The hat trick wasn’t Merrill’s first collegiate one as she tallied one in her first-ever game in a win for Dallas Baptist over Harding in the season opener in 2020.

Which BU great has the all-time program record for total career hat tricks?

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Molly Cameron.

The Baylor Athletics Hall of Fame (Class of 2015) was a force on the pitch, ranking second all-time in career goals (67) and tallied SEVEN career hat tricks, including six during her record setting 1996 season in which she set a single-season program record of 32 goals scored. That record still remains in tact today.

🐻 Have a great Tuesday, y’all!
